Mendekati akhir tahun 2020, berbagai ajang penghargaan game mulai hadir. Di ajang The Golden Joystick Awards 2020, game “The Last of Us” berhasil menyabet penghargaan dari berbagai kategori.
The Golden Joystick Awards juga dikenal dengan sebutan People’s Gaming Awards. Ajang penghargaan ini merupakan ajang tertua kedua untuk video game, setelah Arcade Awards. The Golden Joystick Awards 2020 berlansung secara digital pada tanggal 24 November 2020.
Penyelenggaraan di tahun 2020 ini jelas terganggu oleh kondisi pandemi Covid-19. Terutama juga karena mundurnya beberapa game yang populer, seperti “Cyberpunk 2077”. Tapi tetap saja ada beberapa game menarik dalam daftar nominasi.
Kesuksesan “The Last of Us 2”
Sebagai sekuel, game “The Last of Us 2” menghadapi tantangan berat. Terutama karena bayang-bayang seri pertama yang sukses dan mendapat pujian. Toh, game ini berhasil menunjukkan taringnya dan meraih banyak penghargaan.
Game “The Last of Us 2” berhasil mendapat 5 penghargaan dari kategori: Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, Best Audio, PlayStation Game of the Year, dan Ultimate Game of the Year. Game lain yang mendapat beberapa penghargaan hanyalah “Hades”.

Walau ada dominasi, beberapa game populer juga berhasil unjuk gigi. Misalnya game “Fall Guys” dan “Among Us”. Yah, untuk kasus “Among Us”, penghargaan lebih ditujukan pada sang pengembang, Innersloth.
